Lakshadweep Travel Guide
Lakshadweep Travel GuideLakshadweep Travel Guide
Be warned. There are some thing that are really hard to find in Lakshadweep. Like fast cars, or shrinks, or tranquilizers. They do have all that water though. Bright and clear as liquid glass. Fringed by white stretches of sand where the only throngs you'll ever see are of the sandpipers on the shore. And you could sleep by the seaside with the night sky as your ceiling. Therapy has never felt better.

Geographically similar to that other divers' haunt, Lakshadweep is like Maldives without the crowds. 400 kilometers off the coast of Kerala, this group of 36 coral islands and atolls can be reached by a twenty - hour sea journey from Cochin. Of the ten inhabited islands, only two, Bangaram and Kadmat, are open to foreigners and there are dive centers on both these islands. The langoons are home to a spectacular world of marine life, so unexplored, you may well have a site named after you.

Places to Visit

Fringed by a continuous silvery beach, the Bangaram Island Resort, 128 acres of tropical paradise is encircled by a lagoon 10 kms. long and 6 kms. wide consisting an area of approximate.40 sq. kms. With the exception of the Resort, Bangaram is totally uninhabitated. The lagoons around the islands are beautifül and clear, offering excellent opportunities for swimming, snorkelling and sun bathing.

The Island of Bangaram is the only resort developed for stay and water sports and it is possible to cruise around the islands. For dedicated anglers, tuna fishing and deep see fishing and for marine life lovers there are glassbottom boats available The waters are crystal clear and immensely rich in a variety of sea life including corals. The Resort consists of thirty huts with walls of bamboo and thatched with palm fronds. It has a restaurant, a bar and a lounge. Regular air services operate from Cochin to Agatti, thrice weekly. From Agatti, the resort operates boat services to Bangaram
